Our short-term accommodation services provide a comfortable and welcoming “home away from home” experience. You can look forward to making new connections, trying new activities, and taking some time to recharge in a supportive environment.
Short Term Accommodation (STA) is a form of support under the NDIS that replaces the old respite service for individuals with disabilities. It provides an opportunity for people to have a short stay away from their homes to try new things, socialize, and learn new skills. It also provides a much-needed break for carers or family members.
At SymCare, our Short-Term Accommodation properties offer a “home away from home” experience for people with disabilities. You can meet new friends, try new things and recharge. Our properties are equipped with everything you need to feel comfortable and welcome.
During your stay with us, you can enjoy a range of activities, such as visiting local attractions, watching a movie, dining out, going to the beach, or playing your favourite sports. We cater to people of all ages and tastes.
Our friendly staff will ensure your support needs are met during your stay. This could include assistance with nutrition, meal planning, cooking, personal care, and medication management. We also provide support services in your own home, if you prefer not to stay in our properties.
Depending on your funding, you can stay with us for up to 28 days per year, whether it’s for an overnight stay, a weekend, or a holiday.
Short Term Accommodation is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life in your NDIS plan. If you require longer-term accommodation, other options like Supported Independent Living may be more suitable.
Please note that we bill in accordance with the NDIS Price Guide, which typically increases annually.
If you’re waiting for a confirmed long-term housing solution, our Medium-Term Accommodation can provide support.
If you’re waiting for a long-term housing solution, SymCare’s Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) may be the solution you need. MTA offers temporary accommodation for up to three months (90 days) while you wait for your permanent housing to be sorted out.
This support is usually funded by the NDIS as a one-off support, so you can have a place to stay while waiting for home modifications, assistive technology, or other housing arrangements to be made.
At SymCare we provide MTA options for those in need of temporary housing solutions. Our MTA services are available for individuals who are:
Our welcoming MTA properties are available across Victoria. Contact us to learn more about how we can support you during your housing transition.
MTA is funded under Core Supports in your NDIS plan, and the NDIS requires evidence that you have a permanent housing arrangement at the end of the MTA funding. While MTA covers your accommodation costs, you will still need to pay for other expenses such as food, phone, internet, and other bills as usual. Please note that we bill in line with the NDIS Price Guide, which generally increases annually.
